DREAM AND INVESTMENT HANDBAGS AT THE AUCTION BY FARAONE CASA D'ASTE

On April 14th, 32 limited edition Hermes bags at auction

A dream to own them, but in addition to the exerted charm, Hermès bags also represent a safe asset that allows, with a minimal risk, to invest in luxury, a sector less exposed to market fluctuations.

It seems, from eligible studies, that investing in a Hermès bag is less risky and more profitable than in the stock market, understood as purchase of shares.

According to the Wealth Report 2021, a study by Knight Frank real estate agency, the handbags of the French Maison are the most profitable assets in terms of investment. In fact, in the last decade, the evaluation of its most famous handbags has increased by 108% overcoming the gold yield, thanks also to the record sales reached at 2020 auctions.

Perfectly aware of this scenario, Faraone Casa d’Aste, auction house from Milan, last year opened, a specialized department operating in the research and sale of Luxury Goods, focused not only in highly desired handbags but also in branded accessories.

The aim of this division is to support the most traditional activity of sale on auction of jewellery and watches; in the next auction, scheduled for April 14th, among 56 lots, 32 are handbags almost new and mostly made in limited edition.

Back from a series of successes with limited time auctions, the auction house from via Montenapoleone decides for a live streaming auction, with bidders connected through the web platform, via telephone and the usual written offers.

Of the 32 handbags put on sale, of which 16 are from Hermès, two are totally new: a Kelly 32 Special Edition with togo leather in Anemone colour for the external and Orange H colour for the inside, coming also with box, dustbag and rain-cover. Followed by a second one, a Punching-Bag designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Louis Vuitton in limited edition; this one is also in immaculate condition and comes with its dustbag and its box.

The following bags are all in perfect conditions and among these it is possible to find many Limited-Edition Hermès Birkin bags, according to everybody the most desired handbag in the world and the best investment ever.

Strongly wanted by the Hermès CEO in 1984 to satisfy actress Jane Birkin requests, not able to find a fairly large bag for herself, the Birkin bag is a myth that has been capable to resist the passage of time, desirable today as yesterday.

Among the many Birkin bags, three of them all from 2013 stand out, the first one is in porosus crocodile skin and in Orange H colour with CITES certificate; The second one, a limited edition in Fjord Indigo leather with natural leather belt and Ottoman de Cren Rouge casaque. The last but not least is a Birkin Ghillies, also limited edition, in Swift Bleu Sapphir, in leather and natural canvas, all with dustbag, rain cover and box.

4 Hermès "Kelly" handbags stand alongside the 10 Birkin bags in the catalog. Kelly is a design dating back to 1937 but which owes its name to the exposure obtained in the magazine "Life" from the homonym Princess of Monaco in 1956.

Two vintage Kelly stand out, the first made in 1982 in glossy porosus crocodile in Havane colour, the second produced in 1990 in midnight blue leather, both of them in size 32 and featuring dustbag, rain cover and box.

Other vintage and eye-catching lots are a " Boîte à Pharmacie " beauty case from the Vanity collection by Louis Vuitton and a Hermès pochette bag in black porosus crocodile skin with shoulder strap.

The 32 lots dedicated to the bags will be closed by three crocodile pochette bags signed Valentino and they will leave room to other luxury goods among which, worthy of mention, two crystal decanters by Cartier, a Gucci hunting glass set, a Bulgari ice bucket and a Faraone cocktail set.

If April 14th, the auction by Faraone Casa d’Aste is entirely dedicated to luxury goods, the next appointment, scheduled for June 14th, always on live form, will be the usual annual auction of jewellery and watches.
